New Zealand rebuilt its skilled migration system around a points scale that is simpler than Australia’s but stricter about who qualifies at all. Most enquiries we turn away are not close, and being told that early saves months and a great deal of money. Our New Zealand team in Hyderabad checks the three things that decide it – your occupation, your registration or qualification, and your job offer – before you pay for anything.
The system awards points for one qualifying attribute, not for a long list of small ones. You claim points from a single source, and you need enough of them together with a skilled job or job offer in New Zealand.

Alongside the points, you need skilled employment in New Zealand or a job offer for it. That requirement is what most Indian applicants underestimate: New Zealand residence is not a route you complete from India and then look for work.
If none of those describe you, the honest answer is that the skilled route is not open yet, and the work is to build one of them first. We will tell you that rather than take a file we cannot move.
This distinction costs people their re-entry. The resident visa comes first and carries travel conditions that expire. The permanent resident visa removes them for life. A returning resident whose conditions have lapsed can be refused boarding, and applying for the permanent resident visa as soon as you qualify is the single most useful thing a new resident can do.

The visa fee is rarely the largest item. Budget for the whole chain before you commit, because stopping halfway wastes everything spent so far.

If you have no New Zealand connection and no offer, Canada or Australia is usually the more realistic first move, and we will say so.
Everything up to the decision is done from India. There is no requirement to travel for the application itself. What does need planning locally is the medical examination, which must be done at a panel clinic, and police clearance, which takes longer than most people allow for. We sequence both so they do not expire before the decision.
Not through the Skilled Migrant Category. Skilled employment or an offer of it in New Zealand is part of the requirement, alongside your points.
Points come from one qualifying attribute – registration, qualification or income – rather than being accumulated across many small factors. We score your profile against the current settings at the assessment stage.
It is the most common successful one. A New Zealand qualification plus a post-study work visa gives you the local skilled employment the residence route asks for.
